The Government of India issued Notification No. 17 (RE-2004)/2004-2009 on January 6, 2005, amending the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2004-2009. The amendment, made under Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, involves the deletion of the last sub-paragraph of Para 3.8.3.1, which was introduced via Notification No. 15/2004-2009 on January 4, 2005. The deleted clause had previously restricted the import of all edible oils classified under Chapter 15 to be carried out solely through the State Trading Corporation (STC) and MMTC. By removing this restriction, the policy allows for more flexibility in the importation process. This change has been issued in the public interest, aiming to simplify the import procedures and enhance market access.
