Seizure of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) having face value of Rs.1.54 Crores by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI)

In yet another major success in its fight against the problem of smuggling and circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes into India, the officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized FICN having face value of Rs.1.54 Crores in what is described as one of the bigg seizures of FICN by any agency in this country.
Acting on a specific tip off and information gathered rom reliable sources that a huge consignment of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) is rriving into the capital from a neighboring country, which has developed as a major hub for supplying the FICN, the offices of the Directorate of nue Intelligence launched an operation code named ‘Operation Brass-tacks’ and intercepted a foreign registered luxurious Mercedes Benz Bus on 03.06.2011 along with two foreign nationals. After two days of intensive non stop rummaging of the aid bus, the officers of DRI were able to retrieve the FICN ingeniously concealed in a hidden cavity apparently especially made in the said bus. FICN of denomination
of Rs.500 having face value of Rs.1.54 Crore was seize by the DRI on 06.06.2011. The Indian recipient of the smuggled FICN was also apprehended at the time of interception of the bus.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the two reign nationals from a European Country had traveled by bus from Turkey all the way to India. Their interrogation is likely to unravel the entire plot and their likely involvement in other anti-national activities and also throw light on the master nds and organizations involved in the activity of circulation f fake currency interested to destabilize the economy of our country.
