Employees’ Provident Fund- Contribution Rate

The EPF & MP Act, 1952 was enacted by Parliament and came into force with effect from 4th March, 1952. A series of legislative interventions were made in this direction, including the Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. Presently, the following three schemes are in operation under the Acts:

1. Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme, (EPS) 1952

2. Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, (EDILS) 1976

3. Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 (replacing the Employees’ Family Pension Scheme, 1971)(EPS)

Table below gives the rates of contribution of EPF, EPS, EDLI, Admin charges in India.

 EDLIS Administrative charges (A/C-22) 0 0.01%  or min Rs. 200/-
                                TOTAL 12% 13.16%

  2. i have remitted employees pension scheme for 6 employees based on the wage limit of Rs.6,500 instead of Rs.15,000 from April 15 to August 15. what would be the interest to be remitted along with pension amount. please clarify. Thanks & Regards, T.M.Parthasarathy

  3. In one case of labour contractor, they are claiming deductions towards EPF at 13.5% of basic paid to labour. Please clarify whether the excess of 1.5% of EPF can be disallowed or not.
