The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a notification on 31 October 2025, amending its earlier notification dated 6 December 2016 regarding recognized food testing laboratories under Section 43(1) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The amendment revises the list of laboratories across all four regions — Northern, Western, Southern, and Eastern — by adding new entries and deleting or updating existing ones. In the Northern Region, deletions were made for certain Delhi and Rajasthan laboratories, while a new laboratory, QC Lab, Shriram Food & Pharma Research Centre, Ghaziabad, was added under Uttar Pradesh. In the Western Region, three new laboratories — Eurofins Analytical Services India Pvt. Ltd., QSS Inspection and Testing Pvt. Ltd., and Chemo Test Laboratory — were added in Navi Mumbai and Thane, Maharashtra. In the Southern Region, changes include substitution of entries for a Karnataka laboratory, deletion of certain labs in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, and addition of two new Kerala laboratories — ECO Green Labs India Pvt. Ltd. and CSIR-NIIST Testing and Analysis Laboratory. In the Eastern Region, new laboratories were added in Assam, Bihar, and West Bengal, including TLABS, Tea Research Association, Jorhat; National Food Laboratory, Raxaul; and Eureka Analytical Services Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata. The notification, signed by Rajit Punhani, Chief Executive Officer of FSSAI, ensures updated accreditation details for biological and chemical testing scopes. The principal notification was first issued in December 2016 and last amended on 4 June 2025.
