Tax Bar Association, Jodhpur has requested Finance Minister to Kindly extend the date falling on 31.03.2020 to 30.06.2020. Meaning thereby that last date to file belated income tax return for the assessment year 2019-20 and to file revised return for the same assessment year be extended to 30.06.2020 from 31.03.2020. We understand this will require an amendment to the Income Tax Act, 1961 but this is the need of the hour. An amendment to General Clauses Act will also make the thing happen.  Extend the due date for declaration under the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Act, 2020 from 31.03.2020 to 30.06.2020. Keep in abeyance all income tax/GST proceedings till the situation improves. Waive all interests and late fees under the GST Law and Extend all due dates under GST laws.

-Sub: Extension of due dates for tax filings in view of Pandemic Corona(Covid-19)

Dear Madam,

The world is fighting with full force against the Pandemic called Corona. India is also fighting with the same and today on appeal of worthy Prime Minister we are observing Janta Curfew. These are testing times for all of us and we are standing by our government in fight to defeat Corona. Though, Prime Minister called for Janta Curfew on Sunday our association appealed all members to close down their offices from Fiday Noon till Monday evening so that social distancing and minimal human contact may be achieved, both of which are necessary to stop further spread of the Pandemic.

As your goodself is aware that deadline to file belated income tax return for the assessment year 2019-20 is falling due on 31.03.2020 and similarly is the case for revised return for the concerned assessment year.

As stated above that in these testing times it is need of the hour to maintain social distancing and to observe minimal human contact.

For tax compliance the assessees need to move to CA/Tax Advocates office and also to banks which will impair the stated objective of Prime Minister to observe social distancing and avoid human contact. Further to that the Rajasthan Government has announced complete lock down from 22.03.2020 to 31.03.2020 which have made all offices non-functional.

In view of above, we request your goodself to

(a) Kindly extend the date falling on 31.03.2020 to 30.06.2020.
