A 46-year-old senior official of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) allegedly committed suicide by jumping from his sixth floor residence in east Delhi this morning apparently due to depression, police said.
K Venkitraman, an Additional Secretary at the ICAI, jumped from his sixth floor flat in Mayur Vihar’s River View Apartments at around 6:40 AM, a senior police official said.
Venkitraman was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, he said.
He was not keeping well for past some time and it is suspected that he took the extreme step due to depression, police said.
His wife was not at home when the incident took place.
