Sub: Issuance of Transhipment Permit at Ports on Saturdays – reg.

I am directed to invite your attention to the Board’s Circular No.79/2001-Cus., dated 7.12.2001 regarding simplification of procedure for transhipment of cargo from gateway ports to other ports/ICDs/CFSs. In this regard, it has been brought to the notice  of  the Board by the trade  that the non-issuance of Transhipment Permits on Saturdays have resulted in trains going back empty on Sundays and Mondays from the Ports. The situation gets  aggravated when the weekend is clubbed with another holiday.

2. The matter has been examined by the Board  and it has been decided to allow filing of transhipment applications and  issuance of  Transhipment  Permit  on Saturdays.

3. Necessary  arrangements may be made by the Customs Houses to implement the above  decision and the same may be brought to  the notice  of  all concerned by issuing a Public Notice and Standing Order.

4. Difficulties, if any, in implementation of above said instruction may be brought to the notice of the Board.

Kindly acknowledge the receipt.
