Notification No. 7/2002-07, dated June 5, 2002, issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, amends the Export and Import Policy for the period 2002-07. The amendment introduces a new provision under paragraph 7.9 (I), adding sub-para (iii) which provides that supplies made from the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) to Special Economic Zones (SEZs) or units within SEZs will be eligible for the benefit of Duty Entitlement Pass Book (DEPB) in lieu of drawback. The amendment ensures that DTA suppliers benefit from the relevant entitlements and discharge their export performance obligations as per the policy, while specifically allowing DEPB benefits for SEZ-related supplies. This change aims to improve the export incentives for DTA suppliers involved with SEZs. The notification was issued by N.L. Lakhanpal, the Director General of Foreign Trade, and is done in public interest.
