The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Deputy GM-cum-Project Manager, National Building Construction Corporation, Khagaria (Bihar) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.1.25 lakhs from the complainant.
The complainant, a resident of Distt. Muzaffarpur alleged that he was working under Prime Minister Village Road Scheme in National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), whose tender was of Rs.2 crore. After completing 80% of the work, he submitted the bill of Rs.60 lakh in the Khagaria office of NBCC. The DGM-cum-Project Incharge demanded a bribe of Rs.1.25 lakh from him for the adjustment of the bill. The complainant lodged a complaint with the CBI. CBI registered a case and laid a trap. The accused was caught red-handed from his Khagaria residence while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.1.25 lakh from the complainant.
During search, an amount of Rupees one lakh besides documents relating to investments in various instruments, such as Rs.3.89 lakh in Postal Savings Account; fixed deposits of Rs.9.63 lakh in different banks; cash deposits of Rs.9.18 lakhs & investments in LIC in his and in the name of his family members were recovered.
