The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs issued Notification No. 32/2026-Customs (N.T.) dated March 30, 2026, amending tariff values for specified imported goods under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. The notification substitutes updated tariff values for commodities including crude and refined palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. Revised benchmark values include gold at USD 1450 per 10 grams, silver at USD 2201 per kilogram, and varying rates for edible oils and brass scrap, while the tariff value of areca nuts remains unchanged. These tariff values serve as the basis for customs duty calculation, ensuring alignment with prevailing international prices. The changes aim to standardize valuation, prevent under-invoicing, and maintain revenue accuracy. The notification comes into effect from March 31, 2026, continuing periodic revisions under the existing valuation framework.
