Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Corporate Affairs, has said that in order to increase awareness in investors , an ‘India Investor Week’ will be organized in the 2nd week of July, 2010. Presiding over the meeting of the Governing Council of the National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NFCG), Shri Khurshid said that during that Week, 5 major events in the metros, regional events in the states and a large number of investor awareness camps will be organized all over the country.
The Core Group constituted by MCA for convergence of Indian Accounting Standards with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) had announced the approach and timelines for achieving convergence with IFRS on 22 January 2010 and a separate approach on 31 March 2010 for the convergence of Indian Accounting Standards by the Banking companies, Insurance companies and Non-Banking Finance Companies.
A meeting of the Core Group constituted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for convergence of Indian Accounting Standards with the International financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) from the year 2011 was held on 11th January, 2010 and on 29th March, 2010 under the chairmanship of Shri R. Bandyopadhyay, Secretary , Ministry of Corporate Affairs. These meetings were attended by the officials from Ministry of Finance, SEBI, RBI, IRDA C&AG, PFRDA, ICAI, Industry Representatives and other experts.
The Corporate Affairs Ministry today said it was collecting information on all franchisees of IPL teams and described this as a part of normal practice for any company and was not a probe. “My ministry is merely collecting information that we should have in the normal course of those companies that are franchisee companies,” Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid told reporters here.

The government will sift through the financial data filed by companies with the Registrar of Companies to get a better picture of their investments and expenditure, helping it get better inputs for key policy decisions such as tax incentives. Financial details submitted with the RoC will be aggregated under various parameters such as investments, deposits and trade debt, a government official told. The initiative is driven by the ministry of corporate affairs. The RoC has financial data of nearly 10 lakh companies stored in its database management system, MCA-21.
