The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri P K Bansal has said that The Lokpal Bill 2011 will be introduced in Lok Sabha by Aug.3. Speaking to the Media at the Parliament house the Minister said that the government has prepared a comprehensive Lokpal bill for the consideration and passing by both houses of Parliament. The Monsoon Session, 2011 of Parliament (8th Session of Fifteenth Lok Sabha and the 223rd Session of the Rajya Sabha) is scheduled to commence on Monday, the 1st of August, 2011 and subject to exigencies of Government Business, the Session will conclude on Thursday, the 8th of September, 2011. The Session will provide 26 sittings spread over a period of 39 days.
The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal for the enactment of a new legislation in the form of the Lokpal Bill, 2011. The Bill provides for the establishment of the institution of Lokpal to inquire into allegations of corruption against certain public functionaries and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. The Bill envisages setting up the institution of Lokpal consisting of Chairperson and eight Members with the stipulation that half of the Members shall be Judicial Members. It will have its own Investigation Wing and Prosecution Wing with such officers and staff as are necessary to carry out its functions.
The Ministries and Departments of Union Government are gearing up for legislative business in view of the forthcoming Session of Parliament. The Monsoon session will begin on 1st August 2011 and will continue up to 8th September 2011.Original and amendment bills are either being drafted or the readied bills are being sent for cabinet nod for consideration and passing in Parliament. The Cabinet today approved the proposal for moving an official Amendment to the Constitution (One hundred and Tenth Amendment) Bill, 2009 for enhancing reservation for women in Panchayats at all tiers from 1/3rd to at least 50%. The Constitution (One hundred and Tenth Amendment) Bill, 2009 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 26.11.2009. The official Amendment proposes to add word ‘rural’ before the word ‘population’ as and where the same occur in 1st Proviso of Clause (2) (iii) of the Constitution (One hundred and Tenth Amendment) Bill, 2009. This Provision will apply to the total number of seats filled by direct election, offices of Chairpersons and seats and offices of Chairpersons reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Union Home Minister Shri P. Chidambaram released the book on Disaster Management in India prepared by Disaster Management Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs, here today. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Chidambaram urged the stakeholders to come together by contributing their knowledge and experience in mitigating disaster in the country. He said that disaster management must become part of the general administration at the district level and first and second response at the ground level in States must be prepared. The Home Minister expressed the hope that the Book will be useful in disseminating knowledge on disasters and disaster management in the country.
The 195th meeting of the Central Board of Trustees, Employees’ Provident Fund, which was the twelveth regular meeting of the present Board, was convened at a short notice in New Delhi on Thursday. The Board approved the selection and appointment of the four new fund managers for managing the EPF corpus for a period of three years effective from 01.09.2011. The State Bank of India would continue as fund manager of EPF corpus till 31.08.2011.

The is the flagship scheme of Ministry in the field of drug demand deduction. The scope of the scheme includes awareness, early intervention, treatment and rehabilitation to ensure reintegration of the addicts into the social mainstream.
The Ministry of Finance has decided to extend the terms of reference of the Task force which was constituted under the Chairmanship of Shri Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to recommend and implement a solution for direct transfer of subsidies on Kerosene, LPG and Fertilizer to the intended beneficiaries. A Memorandum to this effect was issued by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance today.

The Forty-fourth PPPAC meeting, chaired by Secretary (Economic Affairs), Ministry of Finance met on June 20, 2011 and granted approval to 6 proposals of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. These proposals are in five States. The list of proposal is given below. The estimated project cost of the approved proposal is Rs, 9773.85 crore. Since its constitution in January 2006, PPPAC has granted approval to 226 proposals, with an estimated project cost of `224464.51 crore. These include National Highways (hundred and seventy eight proposals), Ports (Twenty two proposals), Airports (two proposals), Housing (seventeen proposals) Tourism Infrastructure (one proposal) Railways (one proposal) and Sports Stadia (five proposals).
