The Reserve Bank of India has, through a questionnaire, sought views/comments of all stakeholders on the Terms of Reference for the Nair Committee on Priority Sector Lending . Comments/suggestions/views may be emailed latest by November 15, 2011. It may be recalled that the Reserve Bank of India had appointed a Committee to re-examine the existing classification and suggest revised guidelines with regard to priority sector lending classification and related issues (Chairman : Shri M. V. Nair).
Implementation of Green Initiative of the Government -As part of the ‘Green Initiative’ of the Government, the Government of India has suggested that steps be taken by entities in financial sector, including NBFCs to help better utilisation of their resources and also better delivery of services.
Know Your Customer’ (KYC) Guidelines – Anti Money Laundering Standards (AML) Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 – Obligations of NBFCs in terms of Rules notified thereunder’-Reporting Format under Project FINnet. Please refer to Master Circular No 231 dated July 1, 2011 on ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) Guidelines – Anti Money Laundering (AML) Standards. In terms of the extant instructions, NBFCs are required to report information/data relating to Cash and Suspicious Transactions to the Director, Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND) in the prescribed format.

The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal under 1% interest subvention on housing loan scheme liberalising the limit of housing loan upto Rs. 15 lakh where cost of the house does not exceeding Rs. 25 lakh from the present limit of Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh respectively, and designating National Housing Bank (NHB) as the Nodal Agency (NA) for implementing the scheme both for Scheduled Commercial Banks and Housing Finance Companies.

In the euro area, macroeconomic prospects are intimately tied in to its ability to credibly resolve its sovereign debt and financial sector problems.
