CA Anoop Mundada

CA Anoop MundadaNow days everyone is busy like never before. You will not see a single person (Including a small kid) with free time. Area where a person spends time varies from person to person. One thing which GOD has kept common between all of us is the amount of time available with us. Now in provided time span of 24 Hours everybody is earning their bread & butter. Let’s do calculation of 24 Hours available with us.

Total hours in a Day 24 Hours
Min. Sleep required 6 Hours
Balance Hours 18 Hours
Time for Morning Routine (Like Bath, Breakfast) 2 Hours
Time for Lunch & Dinner    1 Hour
Time spent for calls (Average) 2 Hours
Time spent on FB, Whatsapp etc    1 Hour
Effective Hours for Productive Work 12 Hours

In short in a day, 50 % of your time is non-productive.

In my above calculation I have not considered time spent on following things :

  1. Attending functions of friends , family , relatives
  2. Holidays with family
  3. Time spent in queues at Railway Counters , Cinema Theaters etc
  4. Illness

time money

Now suppose I take my own example, I have completed 26 Years of my age & presently people die at a average age of 60 years ( I will not be an exception ) , so I have 34 years balance of my life. Based on my above calculation, I have just 17 years which are productive.

Now suppose , I have target of Earning 50 Lacs/p.a. Assuming there are just 360 days in a year , I have to hit my target in 180 days i.e. 180*12 = 2160 Hours which means every hour I have to earn Rs. 2315/- per hour .

It is said that “WINNERS DON’T DO DIFFERENT THINGS THEY DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY “.

From this you may judge how TATA, AMBANI, BIRLA’s have used their time in their young age & living a lavish life today.

So don’t waste a single minute. Time is money, REALLY.

Yes Sir, Its true. But everyone have different perception towards life. Enjoy every moment of life, instead of hitting the targets.

sir exactly time is money, however money is not everything, money can not give happiness, enjoy which you can feel good with your parents, your own family, friends—–in Indian 1% have more money than they deserve however 60% have not much money to live with even meal/food etc. every rich man become rich on getting money from poors

I completely agree with Giftson. Its about perception. Though author’s attempt on motivation is commendable, but perception always differs. I don’t think Tata & Ambani’s value the time in terms of money. Because for them money may not be motivator (Though I felt bit uncomfortable to see these stalwarts standing in a queue to meet US President). Simply its all about perception.

  5. Y K TRIVEDI says:

ITS TRUE AND VERY CALCULATIVE & CORRECT,, BUT MOST OF THE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THIS PRECIOUS TIME WHICH EVERY ONE OF US HAVE EQUALLY.

  6. Giftson says:

Good Article …. However what is productive and non productive depends on each once perspective. For some people spending time with their family and friends are considered the best moments (They might consider that more productive than sitting in front of a lousy computer) of their lives. I guess the difference is to how you measure your success – Does is depend on how much gets credited to your bank account? or does it depend on how much time you have to do the things you love doing?
