A reminder to all the Tax return preparers and the assessees filling your ITR of a very imp Income tax related update brought about for ITR Filing for FY 18-19 onwards.
From March 1, 2019, the I-T department has started issuing income tax refunds only through e-mode. The new rule means that the earlier practice of sending tax refund cheques through Speed Post has been done away with.
In response to the above development, assessees are required to pre-validate their bank account with the income tax e-filing portal to receive tax refund.
Online procedure to pre-validate bank account is as follows:
1. Visit the Income tax e-filing portal i.e. https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home
2. Click on the ‘Login’ option and enter your login credentials.User ID is your PAN.
3. Upon logging in successfully, click on ‘Profile Settings’ and choose ‘Pre-validate Your Bank Account’ option.
4. Now, enter your bank account details such as account number, IFSC, bank name, and contact details.
5. Upon clicking ‘Pre-validate’ button, you will be redirected to a screen that says, “Your request for pre-validating bank account is submitted.
6. Status of your request will be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number.
7. If the bank account validation is successful, it will display as “Validated” in the Pre-validation tab.
As my mother had not received the IT refund, I proceeded with prevalidation of bank account which has successfully been done. When I tried to use the refund reissue option I got a prompt that there has been no failure of refund. Please clarify in how many days after pre validation can my mother expect the IT refund which other wise has already been processed and IT return also e-verified.

My Pan has my full name for first and last name and bank account has Full name and Initial of my last name. So prevalidation is failing on name mismatch. Kindly let me know how to proceed. I reside outside India presently.
Hi I have rather a strange response from ITR team my Axis bank account has been successfully validated. however the same got declined with a reason stating the bank account is closed!
My account is very much active and so have the bank confirmed the same.
PAN & KYC is also completed so no issues on those ground.
Any clue why would this be the case as the second time we have rechecked the bank account details and the same was correct.
Looking forward to get a solution to this

Is there any issue with Axis Bank account pre-validation? I am seeing my Axis account in Request Submitted state since Aug-19. I had received refund last year in that account…but this year i have not received my refund till date. I received intimation on 19-Jan21. Today I have successfully pre-validated SBI account, so how long it will take to receive my refund. Please guide.

Sir my itr refund was processed on 11 Dec 2019 but still the refund is not credited to my account , what should I do ?

I HAVE SUBMITTED MY ITR IN JULY 20 WITH MY BANK ACCOUNT WHICH WAS PREVIOUSLY NOT PREVALIDATED BY ME.I HAVE NOT GOT REFUND YET.I HAVE PREVALIDATED ANOTHER BANK ACCOUNT IN PROFILE SETTING WHICH IS VERIFIED.NOW SHOULD I HAVE TO FILE ITR AGAIN OR IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY SELECT THE VERIFIED ACCOUNT.

Sir, while i am applied for refund;it shown pre validation of your bank account with your registered mobile number.it was more than 3 days reflects that request successfully submitted and no further updates.Actually the mobile number register with bank is not owned by me;it owned by one one of family members.is it any issue generated with the current registered mobile number which was mismatched with names.if yes pls suggest what will be next action to claim refund

ankit ji lastweek only we added pan in bankaccount after adding this only am getting issue like bank account details verification failed because of technical issue with bank…. when i called bank there are telling no issue from bank end

How prevalidate foreign Company bank account details for IT refund.
Sir, in my case the prevalidate bank details status is “request submitted” for more than a year. Should I contact the bank for getting it validated ?
Status column:
1. Validated – The bank account details are correct and validated.
2. Validated and EVC enabled – The bank account details are validated and this bank account is enabled for EVC. So when you request EVC Code you will get it on the mobile number registered with the bank for this account automatically.
3. Validation failed – PAN not linked with the Bank account or the details entered are incorrect.

Hello, my refund failed due to “The type of Bank Account provided in the return is not eligible for crediting the refund.”
Now I understand that I need to pre-validate my account. My account is an NRO account. When I try to pre-validate I am asked to provide a phone number linked to the bank account. But when i try to enter my full number (with international code) the number gets truncated as it does not take more than 10 digits. How do I take this forward?

I have received intimation of ITR processing and confirmation that my refund has been credited.
But the amount is not credited to my pre-validated bank account. SBI says my refund is credited but the credit is not seen in my account.
