With the deployment of Income Tax Portal 2.0, the stakeholders have been facing a lot of issues, one of the same being in respect to filing of the Income Tax Returns. While filing the return of income there has been an issue faced in respect to Verification of the Income Tax return at the portal as for few of the cases the Name of person signing i.e. the Taxpayer is not appearing at the portal or in Utility. Further to add the trouble the cell for the Name of person signing is greyed out i.e. it shall be auto-populated with no option to fill.
One of the way around that I personally experienced is that, instead of selecting self you may select the other option such as “Authorized Signatory” from the dropdown (while selecting capacity in which return is signed) in the verification tab and then the greyed out cell shall allow you to fill name.
Once the details have been filled the option of Authorized signatory can be changed to Self again and you may be surprised that the name shall now appear under the greyed out option as you would have wanted it earlier. While I personally believe that name shall be auto-populated like PAN once the glitches are resolved however, in interest of the time for the taxpayers requiring their filed returns for AY 2021-22 can try the said option as a workaround till the glitch is solved from the back-end by the Income tax Department.

I never faced any such issues upto last financial year. Earlier IT website was maintained by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). They did a wonderful service to IT Dept. But, now, NEW CONTRACTORS those who are maintaining the new IT website are collapsing not only the “Good Name” of IT Dept. but also they are creating BAD NAME to our respected modiji Government too. In my experience, upto last year i did Online ITR-1 for my client in Just 10 Minutes including E-Verify. But, now, i require to spend upto 2 and Half Hours for a simple ONLINE ITR-1 uploading. However, i inform you that OFFLIN JSON filing is working without any issues EXCLUDING uploading and E-Verify. I am facing below problems 1) TOO much delay to display the Login Page. 2) After Login, it displays the Dashboard with permanent irritation of update your profile / update your bank A/c and only 75% completion of your profile. 3) After spending a LONG hours system uploaded the file successfully. But the uploaded file was NOT displayed in Filed Return menu and also E-verify was not displayed under worklist / pending list menu. However, the next day it displayed under Filed Return Menu. However, still it is not displaying E-verify button in worklist / pending list. I selected E-verify under normal menu, and i clicked the button E-verify. I have been trying to click several time for the past 3 Days. But “Nothing Happened”. I tried Mozilla Firefox 90, Microsoft Edge 92 and also Internet Explorer 11. I am using original windows 7 professional with uptodate update of softwares.

The Finance Minister does not seem to have any clue as to how resolve all those glitches. And, may be to restore the earlier Tax Filing Portal even for the time being might have become a big prestegious issue for her and also for the BJP ruled Govt.
I filed my return successfully on 27th of July’2021. However, failed to E-Verify the same. I tried every way, but failed. Before logging in, there is an option to e verify. I tried there. Received the OTP, inserted. And then pressed continue. It gave option for everify. I chose bank account ( I chose the bank a/c which is already validated). Now asked to press “my bank accounts”. As soon as I did that, it gave me a message that it is gimed out, despite I had 12 minutes time. I cleared all temp.files from laptop. I tried 3 times. Thereafter, a message appeared which says “You have crossed the limit of OTP receipt. Please try tomoroow”. Funniest thing is that even after trying thecsame way, the same message popped up. I am at loss, harassed and frustrated….It appears I have to send the filed form to Bangalore for physical verification. Never faced such glitches in eralier version…..

We have paid assessment tax less than 10000 during June for ay 21-22. However the system calculates interest and fee under 234B and 234C for assessment tax.Since before March more than 93% of the total tax has been paid for fy 20-21. Anyone
tells whether the interest charged is correct.
For those facing the following issues:
1. ITR verification – you may noted that I have recently filed returns where the verification has been done using EVC i.e. using Aadhar linked verification. Those facing verification issue may try the same once as I have not faced any issues while verifying through Aadhar based OTP.
2. For those still facing the error with bank, while the same has worked for me by removing and adding bank account, however, considering that a lot of taxpayers facing such issue, the same may be taken up by ITD from their end.
Additional problem that I have encountered is that the Long term Capital Gains exempt to the extent of INR 100,000, the tax is getting computed on same, please check the computation properly before filing. The issue was resolved only after I filled the data again from the scratch.

The most useless user unfriendly site developed ny Infosys. The Previous e filing system was much better and there was no need to change it. I have am not able to file return. A message keeps on flashing that I have already filed return and now I should file revised return. Then I shifted to offline utility for itr 2, but again the platform is not accepting return.

Working with the new website is a real-time persisting nuisance. Without download of JSON file return filing offline is not allowed, but when one can change the data, what’s the relevance of the download which contains as much errors rectification of which is also a nightmare. The officials of the Finance Ministry and Infosys should be tried for cruelty to tax payers.
It would be much better if the income tax department or the govt of India allow the taxpayers to file their return off line. I can file my return with in half an hour. This portal is totally useless.
Useless portal developed by Infosys. They should be made to pay penalty. As an IT company don’t they test that asis functionalities should work in new portal. They should sack the entire project team for doing a lousy job. Even after almost 2 months, they are yet to fix critical defects
After submitting the ITR, I found the downloaded itr form is blank.
Another problem faced is that in pre-filled form 2, there is no provision to enter data relating to long term capital gains (loss) in respect of units, which are not equity oriented and where no STT is paid. Department should address this issue. Further, pre-filled form 2 has only general information. Rest, assessee has to fillin.
Under the schedule CAPAITAL GAINS, select, from the sale of debentures or bonds which has not suffered STT and here, you should be able to compute long-term capital loss on account of securities mentioned above. Please try and let me know through this thread. With Best Wishes, Jagadeesh Bharadwaj
Validation error says Max amount can’t exceed 14 digits. Hyperlink is not activated for this error so can’t trace where this error exist. As such no amount entered or auto computed exceed 14 digits. Badly stuck at the fag end……
I did face similar problem while computing Capital Gains, particularly under the CELL -expenses incurred. Log-out, clear temporary files, caches etc., and re-try. It did work for me. Please let me know through this thread once done for the benefit of all others who may be facing similar problem.

For me everytime I try to e verify it throws errors of name mismatch between aadhaar and pan which is not at all the case. Unable to find a solution to it.

Mr Nandan Nilekani along with the Infosys team assured the FM that the new portal will be fine more than a month ago,Still to see the same working without glitches.
In the profile, under bank accounts the same bank account is shown 2 times with validated sign. If we click details one shows validation pending. If we try to delete, account closed or deactivated to be selected. Both the options are not relevant. Actual is “duplicate” . Not sure how to deal.
May have to wait for the ITD to provide with the other options in this regard. Else may have to select one of the given option and keep screenshot for record to substantiate that any other option was not available and hence, were forced to select one of the options even though not relevant
Try to remove one account by exercising the option DEACTIVATED. There should not be any problem.
I am facing problem of a pre filled bogus account of three digit of SBI which I never filled up a d it is not validated. And I cannot remove an a count which is not validated. Can you suggest how such a count can be delited or removed.
Please raise Grievance at the portal for removing said account, though I have not personally faced such issue till now but at the times the resolution have been received from back-end team for other issues.

Sir there is no doubt that glitches are innumerable and it shall take significant time before the Income Tax portal goes back to working fine.
Date of birth has simply drifted to minus one day. All have promised to correct it. But there is no solution. Editing it is not allowed. It is also picking up the wrong date from the Aadhar and PAN portals.

Same problem is being faced by me. However, I was astonished when before filing my return, I looked at my Perview and Submit Page, it was still showing my wrong date of birth ie one day earlier than my actual DOB. I took the print of this page and PRINTED PAGE shows the correct DOB. Unimaginable thing. Screen shot shows wrong DOB whereas printed page shows correct DOB. I am still undecided as to weather I should submit my return or wait. Really perplexed. If you find any solution please write.

I was facing many similar problems but on 26/7 I just tried filling a totally fresh return in online mode and it got submitted without any issue. It seems they’ve silently launched a new version with some schema changes on 21/7 without any announcement. Just try filling a totally fresh return online now. It may help.
Probably you are right Sir, filling new form afresh has solved for glitches appearing earlier in few of the cases. Those facing issue may try this option as well but no assurance on this being accurate solution, so proceed accordingly.
Online itr filling is not a work of common man. Even tax expert faces lot of problems.
True indeed there is lot of lag and glitches. Even the Tax experts are facing lot of issues and are taking every efforts to inform Department of such glitches to obtain quicker resolution but the same may take some time.
persons should always consult the proper professional for any important works instead of doing it on their own or through touts etc to be safe and secure
I removed bank accounts for which bank name error was shown and readded the same but now it’s showing validation in progress for almost a month and now I can’t delete also. One more thing, after uploading, I am unable to everify through net banking or bank account
I have given up wasting time. Whatever is applicable to one and all shall be for me also. Why waste time with this useless portal?

New developers have messed the complete site in this new version. It used to be excellent user friendly & smooth site in older version. Full of glitches & errors in new version. Government should take strict action on developers as almost all users are facing problems. I am fully frustrated, not able to e-verify till now. Hello, I am CA Shantanu Khandelwal from Nagpur. We were facing this same issue in some of our returns while filing the return in online mode. The way to fix this is to file the return using the offline utility. This can be downloaded from the portal and after installing it, download the JSON file from the online login where you have filled the return. This JSON file can be imported into the offline utility saving you time from having to make the return again in offline mode. After this, you can click on the validation rules, it will give the same error regarding the bank name. Click on the error, it will take you to another screen. Just click on the IFSC code in this screen and then click away anywhere else. The name of the bank will get filled in.
Please remove the bank account that is giving the validation error and re-add the same. The issue of bank name will get resolved. Validation for all accounts is not mandatory, you need one account that is validated for refund purposes so ensure that you select pre-validated account for refund.
