The Central Board of Direct Taxes, under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has issued an Interim Action Plan for the financial year 2024-25. This comprehensive plan outlines key result areas and timelines for effective tax administration. Let’s delve into the detailed analysis.
The Interim Action Plan delineates various key result areas (KRAs) and their corresponding timelines for achievement. These KRAs encompass assessment charges, refund-related actions, grievance redressal, audit objections, rectification processes, sharing of information with law enforcement agencies, release of seized assets, international tax matters, exemption units, and more.
Each KRA specifies the tasks to be undertaken and the deadlines for their completion. For in-stance, assessment charges include demand verification, passing orders on disputed demands, categorizing difficult-to-recover demands, and approval of pending refunds. Similarly, international tax matters involve the disposal of assessments, verification of CA/CB certificates, and disposal of TDS-related applications.
The plan also addresses appellate matters, vigilance-related issues, HRD matters, and other administrative tasks. It emphasizes the importance of timely action and strict compliance to ensure effective tax governance and transparency.
The Interim Action Plan for FY 2024-25 provided by the Central Board of Direct Taxes offers a structured approach to enhance tax administration efficiency. By delineating specific tasks and timelines, the plan aims to streamline processes, expedite decision-making, and ensure accountability across various departments. Adherence to the outlined guidelines is crucial for achieving the desired outcomes and meeting the objectives of tax revenue generation and compliance.
