F.No. DGIT (Vig)/HQ/DOR/2016-17(pt)/2465

Dated: 26.07.2017

To,

All Principal Directors General of Income Tax
All Chief Commissioners of Income Tax
All Directors General of Income Tax

Sir/Madam,

Sub: Installation of CCTV in office premises — reg.

From time to time, instances of theft and breach of security in office premises are reported. Also, a number of our officers/officials are carrying out duties which are sensitive in nature. At times, there are instances of officers/officials being threatened and obstructed from performing their duties as a public servant. In order to improve the safety and security of officers/officials as well as of office premises, it has been decided that CCTV cameras should be installed in all office premises at appropriate places, including common areas, lobbies, corridors etc.

2. This step would have the double pronged benefit of ensuring probity among government servants and also safeguarding them against frivolous complaints.

3. This has the approval of Chairman, CBDT. Chairman has directed that Pr. CCITs may get the CCTV systems installed out of available budget.

Yours faithfully,

(Abha A. Kishore)

Director General of Income Tax (Vig.)
