The Income Tax Department has issued a clarification regarding emails sent under the Advance Tax e-Campaign for Assessment Year 2026–27 (FY 2025–26) after reports that some taxpayers received communications containing incorrect details of “significant transactions.” The Department acknowledged the issue and stated that it is working with its service provider to correct the error. Taxpayers have been advised to ignore the earlier emails containing inaccurate information. The Department clarified that such communications are facilitative reminders intended to help taxpayers review financial information available on the Compliance Portal and ensure proper advance tax payment where applicable. These reminders are not enforcement notices but are meant to encourage voluntary compliance. Taxpayers are advised to verify transaction details through the e-Campaign tab on the Compliance Portal via the e-Filing portal before taking any action. The Department also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and appreciated taxpayers for reporting the discrepancy and cooperating while the issue is being resolved.

Clarification Regarding ‘Significant Transactions’ Communication

It has been reported that certain taxpayers have received emails containing inaccurate details regarding ‘significant transactions’ undertaken by them as part of the ongoing Advance Tax e-Campaign for AY 2026-27 (Financial Year 2025-26). The Department thanks taxpayers for bringing this error to our attention and regrets the inconvenience caused.

We are actively working to resolve this matter in coordination with our service provider. In the meantime, taxpayers are requested to kindly ignore the earlier email communication related to the Advance Tax e-Campaign for AY 2026-27 (Financial Year 2025-26).

The Department would like to clarify that these communications are intended purely as facilitative reminders to enable taxpayers to review relevant financial information available on the Compliance Portal and, where applicable, ensure appropriate advance tax compliance.

Taxpayers are advised to verify their transaction details through the e-Campaign tab on the Compliance Portal, accessible via the e-Filing portal.

Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated.
