Dated 15thJune, 2018
Dear Colleagues,
First and foremost, l would like to complement all officers and staff of CBIC who are involved in the ongoing second Special Refund Fortnight for the hard work put in by you to make this initiative a success. I would particularly like to thank all Chief Commissioners involved for making special efforts in organizing press conferences on the Refund Fortnight at a very short notice. In view of the overwhelming response from exporters and pending claims, the period of Refund fortnight has been extended by two more days i.e up to 16th June, 2018. You may like to go through the press release issued in this regard on 12th June, 2018 which is available on the website. Advertisements in this regard have also been issued in leading newspapers across the country. I would urge all of you to put in your best effort for the remaining 2 days of the Refund Fortnight to bring down the pendency to nil for pre April refund claims. The remaining exporters whose claims are still pending may also be contacted to sort out any issues they are facing in obtaining refunds. May I also request all zones who have not been able to reach zero pendency to continue to work with the same enthusiasm to clear all claims pre April even post 16th June.
Complaints are being received from taxpayers who are not being able to change the email and mobile number fed into the system by the intermediary who had applied for registration on their behalf. With a view to address this difficulty of the taxpayer, a functionality to update email and mobile number of the authorized signatory is now available in the GST System. The email and mobile number can be updated by the concerned jurisdictional tax authority following the procedure prescribed in the press release dated 14th June, 2018 available on the departmental website
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Shri S. Ramesh on being appointed as Chairman, CBIC on my superannuation on 30th June, 2018. I am confident that under his leadership the entire organization will continue to achieve greater heights. I would also like to congratulate Shri Raj Kumar Barthwal. DG(Vig.)/CVO who will take over as Member. CBIC on the appointment of Shri S. Ramesh as Chairman.
To,
