As per an RTI CBIC collects Late Fees of Rs. 1516.34 Cr during Apr 2020 to Feb 2021 despite the Pandemic Covid-19. Whiile CBIC collects Rs. 2507.75 Crores in FY 2019-20 Rs. 2057.53 Crores if FY 2089-19 and Rs. 366.74 Crores for the period from 01st July 2017 to 31st March 2018.

A. I am to refer to your online RTI Application mentioned above forwarded by Central Board of Excise and Customs- Central Excise on 27/05/2021 With Reference Number CBECE/R/E/21/00512 on the subject cited above for supply 0f information the reply is submitted as under:-

RESPONSE
It is stated that no head of account as ‘late Fees’ exists in the Books of accounts of this office, the head of account exists is Fees, The amount collected as per books of accounts of Pr.CCA, CBIC under the head -”Fees” under GST (Net Amount) is as under:-

Question No. 1 : From July 2017 (since Inception) to Mar 2018: Fees 366.74 Crores

Question No. 2 : From Apr 2018 to Mar 2019: Fees 2057.53 Crores

Question No 3 From Apr 2019 to Mar 2020: Fees 2507.75 Crores

Question No 4. From Apr 2020 to Feb 2021 Fees 1516.34 Crores (Final Accounts for the month of March Syp-III 2021 have not yet finalised)

    Law proposes to penalise defaulter and the same is collected. What brilliant reporting is this. See if you can reform the TPs and lead to decrease non compliance. This is what is expected of a Tax Guru.
