Public Notice No. 57 (RE-01)/1997-2002, issued by the Government of India on December 21, 2001, introduces amendments to the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002. The first amendment extends the deadline for claiming DEPB benefits on lost shipping bills from six months from the date of export to six months from the issuance of a duplicate shipping bill. The second amendment provides deemed export benefits to domestic suppliers of goods for setting up nuclear power projects with a capacity of 440 MW or more, as certified by the Department of Atomic Energy. These suppliers are eligible for benefits outlined in the Exim Policy if the procedure of Competitive Bidding (not International Competitive Bidding) is followed. Additionally, new sub-paragraphs are added to Appendices 14A and 14B, establishing the necessary certification format for suppliers of goods to nuclear power projects. These changes aim to streamline processes related to DEPB claims and enhance support for domestic suppliers to nuclear power plants.
