PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 20 (RE-2006)/2004-2009
NEW DELHI, THE 13th June, 2006
Subject : Indo – China Border Trade.
In exercise of powers conferred under paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following arrangements with a view to promote Indo-China Border Trade.
1. In terms of the provisions contained in the Foreign Trade Policy, import/export of the following locally produced commodities by the people living along both sides of the Indo – China border as per the prevailing customary practice will be allowed freely :
Imports:
i. Wool
ii. Goat Cashmere (Pasham)
iii. Goat Skins
iv. Sheep Skins
v. Yak Tails
vi. Goats
vii. Sheep
viii. Yak Hair
ix. Horses
x. Salt
xi. Borax
xii. Szaibelyita
xiii. China Clay
xiv. Butter
xv. Silk
Exports:
1. Agricultural implements
2. Blankets
3. Copper Products
4. Clothes
5. Textiles
6. Cycles
7. Coffee
8. Tea
9. Barley
10. Rice
11. Flour
12. Dry Fruit
13. Dry and fresh vegetables
14. Vegetable Oil
15. Gur and Misri
16. Tobacco
17. Snuff
18. Cigarettes
19. Canned Food
20. Agro Chemical
21. Local herbs
22. Dyes
23. Spices
24. Watches
25. Shoes
26. Kerosene Oil
27. Stationery
28. Utensils
29. Wheat (Ua & Buck).
2. Imports of Goat Skins, Sheep Skins and Yak Tails, Goats, Sheep, Yak Hair and Horses will be subject to the provisions of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Imports and exports will be subject to any other law for the time being in force.
3. Imports and exports under the Indo-China Border Trade Agreement will be allowed only through the following ports :
(a) Gunji,
(b) Namgaya Shipkila, and
(c) Nathula.
