Public Notice No. 02 (RE-99)/1997-2002, issued on 31st March 1999, amends the terms related to the import of cinematograph feature films and video films under the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002. The notice modifies the description of “video films” in previous amendments, replacing the term with a broader description: “Other (including film on video tape, compact Video disc, Laser Video discs, or Digital Video Discs).” This change is made in accordance with the powers under paragraph 4.11 of the policy and applies to the amendments made in Public Notices dated 31st March 1997, 6th May 1997, and 3rd October 1997. The notice aims to clarify the types of video media covered under the import regulations.

Subject: Import of Cinematograph Feature Films and Video Films
In exercise of powers conferred under paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, as notified in the Gazette of India extraordinary, Part-II-Section 3 – Sub-section (ii) vide S.O. No. 283(E) dated 31.3.1997, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby notifies that the words “video films” wherever occur in Public Notice No. 4(PN)/97-02 dated the 31st March, 1997 as amended by Public Notice No.8(PN)/97-02 dated the 6th May, 1997 and subsequently amended by the Public Notice No. 48(PN)/97-02 dated the 3rd October, 1997, shall be substituted by the words ” Other (including film on video tape, compact Video disc, Laser Video discs or Digital Video Discs)”.
This issues in public interest.
