Notification No. 4/2002-2007, dated 15th May 2002, issued by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, introduces amendments to the ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import Items, 2002-2007. Specifically, it modifies the import licensing conditions for radio communication equipment. The new regulation, which applies to items previously covered under Code 85252009 in the 1997-2002 classification, maintains the restriction on importing certain radio communication equipment, such as VHF, UHF, and microwave communication devices. The amended policy stipulates that these items may only be imported if a license is issued by the Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) Wing of the Ministry of Communication. The notification is issued in public interest to ensure proper regulation and control over the import of specific communication equipment.
