Notification No. 23 (RE-2005)/2004-09, issued by the Government of India on 31st August 2005, announces amendments to the ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items. The amendments affect the policy conditions for several Exim Codes related to marble and related products. For example, imports of crude, roughly trimmed marble, blocks, and slabs are now restricted and subject to Import Licensing Notes, while certain marble tiles and blocks can be imported freely if their CIF value is US$ 2700 or more per cubic meter. Additionally, Import Licensing Note (2) is added to Chapter 25, specifying that marble imports are subject to the conditions outlined in Policy Circular 24 (RE-05)/2004-2009. This update is issued in public interest.

S.O. (E) In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in Schedule-I (Imports) to the ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 2004-09:
1. The Policy conditions of the following Exim Codes will be amended:

2. Import Licensing Note no, (2) will be inserted at the end of Chapter 25 and will read as follows:
“Import of marble will be subject to the conditions laid down in Policy Circular 24 (RE-05)/2004-2009 dated 30.08.2005.”
