Notification No. 18/2002-2007, issued on November 14, 2002, by the Government of India, amends the ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import Items, 2002-2007. Under this notification, a new import licensing note is added to Chapter 44 of the ITC(HS) classification. Specifically, the Exim entry for ITC(HS) Code No. 44160010 now includes used casks and barrels. The notification clarifies that imports of all items falling under this classification will be free, thus allowing unrestricted entry of used casks and barrels under the specified code. This amendment aims to update and streamline import regulations for these items, ensuring clarity and consistency in import licensing. The notification was issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade, L. Mansingh, and has been made public in the interest of trade and commerce.

S.O (E) – In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 2.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 2002-2007, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 2002-2007, published on 31st March, 2002 as amended from time to time, namely- at the end of Chapter 44 of the said ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import Items, 2002-2007, a new import licensing note shall be inserted as follows:-
“Import licensing notes:
(1) The Exim entry under ITC(HS) Code No. 44160010 in this chapter shall also include used casks and barrels. Imports of all items falling in this entry shall be free.
