Subject: Restriction on import of Pulses.

Department of Commerce, Ministry. of Commerce & Industry vide Notification dated 17th March, 2020 allowed import of Urad to an annual quota of 04 lakh MT and the same will be allowed only to the Millers/Refiners as per procedure to be notified by Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

2. Annual quota of Urad for the year 2020-21 is 4 Lakh MT and will be effective from 1st May, 2020 to 31st March, 2021. Copy of the said Notifications is attached herewith for ready reference.

This issues with the approval of Competent Authority.

New Delhi, the 17th March, 2020.

S.O.        (E).—In exercise of powers conferred by section 3 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 (22 of 1992), read with paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-2020, the Central Government hereby notifies the Import Policy of items of Chapter 7 of the Indian Trade Classification (Harmonized System), 2017, Schedule-1 (Import Policy), as under —

Import of Urad under the Quota Restriction will be allowed only to the Millers I Refiners as per procedure to be notified by Directorate General of Foreign Trade:-

Provided that this restriction shall not apply to Government’s import commitments under any Bilateral or Regional Agreement or Memorandum of Understanding.

2. Effect of the Notification: Annual quota of Urad for the year 2020-21 is 4 Lakh MT and will be effective from 1st May, 2020 to 31st March, 2021. The earlier Notification published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary vide S.O. 4540 (E) dated 18.12.2019 read with its Corrigendum vide S.O. 4604 (E) dated 24.12.2019 and DGFT’s Trade Notice No. 54/2019-20 dated 03.03.2020 extending the date of import upto 30.04.2020 in respect of import of Urad for the year 2019-20 will be implemented separately.
