Subject: Duty free import of fuel under Advance Authorisation Scheme – clarification regarding

Attention is invited to the conditions stipulated in the General Note for Fuel contained in the Standard Input Output Norms(SION) (HBP VOL.II) according to which duty free import of fuel shall be allowed as per the quantity indicated in the relevant SION. However, in cases where fuel has not been specifically included in the SION, duty free imports of fuel shall also be allowed under Advance Authorization subject to the condition given in the FTP/HBP VOL.I & VOL.II as per the percentage rate indicated in the General Note for Fuel. For the purpose of import of fuel under Advance Authorization, the applicant shall indicate the name of the specific fuel sought for import in their application.

In this regard it is clarified that duty free import of fuel against SION shall be allowed as per the description and quantity indicated in the relevant SION. The FOB value restriction mentioned in General Note for Fuel in HBP, VOL.II will not apply in the case of import of fuel allowed under SION, unless specifically mentioned in the SION

This issues with the approval of DGFT.
