The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued Trade Notice No. 15/2024-2025 on August 29, 2024, announcing the abeyance of Public Notice No. 05/2024, which had previously revised the wastage permissible and Standard Input Output Norms (SION) for gold, platinum, and silver content in export items. This suspension, effective until September 15, 2024, allows the DGFT to propose revised wastage norms based on industry feedback and observations. The notice includes a revised set of wastage norms for various categories of jewelry and related items, as detailed in Annexure 1. Industry stakeholders are encouraged to submit their comments on these proposed norms within seven days to the Norms Committee via email. The decision reflects ongoing adjustments to ensure industry standards are accurately aligned with operational realities.
