Ministry of Finance, through Notification No. 83/2024-Customs (N.T.), dated November 21, 2024, has amended Notification No. 12/97-Customs (N.T.) issued on April 2, 1997. The amendment pertains to the state of Rajasthan, where the location of Dhanakya has been added under serial number 10 in the notification’s table. Dhanakya is now designated as a facility for unloading imported goods and loading export goods or specific classes of such goods. This addition aims to enhance trade logistics in the region by expanding the available infrastructure for import and export activities. The principal notification (No. 12/97) and its amendments provide a framework for identifying locations for customs operations across India. The last amendment to this notification was issued via Notification No. 78/2024-Customs (N.T.) on November 12, 2024. This latest update reflects the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs’ (CBIC) ongoing efforts to facilitate international trade by identifying and operationalizing new cargo handling points.
