New Delhi, the 4, April, 2000

Subject: Pre-export DEPB Scheme

The revised Exim Policy and the corresponding Handbook of Procedure, Vol.I have come into effect from 1.4.2000. Apart from other changes in this Policy, the Pre-Export DEPB Scheme has been withdrawn. However, the provision made in Notification No.34/97-Cus. Dated 7.4.97 to permit duty free import of goods against such Pre-Export DEPB scrips by its amendment vide Notification No. 66/97-Cus. Dated 3.9.97 shall continue to operate so as to provide for import of inputs against Pre-export DEPB scrips issued prior to 1.4.2000. This provision shall automatically become redundant once all such DEPB scrips are exhausted, as no fresh pre-export DEPB scrips would be issued by the Licensing authorities with effect from 1.4.2000.
