The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation today in its 154th meeting approved its Annual Report and Annual Accounts for the year 2010-11. The Corporation also approved the Annual Report and Annual Accounts 2010-2011 of the Corporation for submitting to the Central Government and laying on the table of both Houses of the Parliament.

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Minister of Labour & Employment chaired the 154th meeting of the Corporation. On this occasion approval was also given for increase in the ceiling on reimbursement of expenditure on Medical Care to the States was also increased from Rs. 1200/- to Rs. 1500/- per IP family unit per annum.

The Minister announced the ESI Scheme is on the path of accelerated growth. It is now catering to social security needs of more than 1.55 crore insured persons and their family members; a landmark which has been achieved by the Corporation in the year 2010-11. The number of beneficiaries covered under the Scheme is now 6.02 crores. The Corporation has spent a sizeable amount of Rs. 2620.22 crores on medical and cash benefits of insured persons and their family members during the year.
