Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah on Tuesday convened a meeting of all the Information Commissioners to discuss the Delhi High Court’s stand that the Central Information Commission had no powers to frame rules for its regulation.
The Commission was split on the issue with some Commissioners favouring suspension of work till the government cleared the issue of the constitution of the CIC benches. The Chief Information Commissioner held that stopping the hearings would not be in public interest.
Habibullah told a news agency that there would be no changes in the working of the Commission. “We will abide by the High Court but the work will continue,” he said.
