Q.1 What are the different forms of Aadhaar and what are their features?
Ans. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced various forms of Aadhaar from time to time for the convenience of residents:
Aadhaar Letter: Paper-based laminated letter with secure QR Code with Issue Date and Print Date. Aadhaar letter is sent to resident free of cost by ordinary post in case of new enrolment or mandatory biometric update. If the Aadhaar letter is lost or destroyed, the resident can order a reprint online at a cost of Rs. 50/- from UIDAI’s official website. Reprinted Aadhaar letter is delivered to the resident by speed post.
eAadhaar: eAadhaar is the electronic form of Aadhaar, digitally signed by UIDAI, having a Aadhaar secure QR code for offline verification with Issue Date and Download Date and is password protected. Resident can easily download eAadhaar/masked eAadhaar from UIDAI’s official website using registered mobile number. The masked eAadhaar displays only last 4 digits of Aadhaar number. eAadhaar is generated automatically with every Aadhaar enrolment or update and it can be downloaded free of cost.
mAadhaar: mAadhaar is an official mobile application developed by UIDAI which can be installed on mobile device. mAadhaar app is available on Google play store/iOS for downloading on resident’s mobile device. It provides an interface to Aadhaar number holders to carry their Aadhaar details as registered with CIDR which includes Aadhaar number along with demographic information and photograph. It has Aadhaar secure QR code for offline verification. Like eAadhaar, mAadhaar is also generated automatically with every Aadhaar enrolment or update and it can be downloaded free of cost.
Aadhaar PVC Card: Aadhaar PVC Card is the latest form of Aadhaar introduced by UIDAI. Other than being easy to carry and durable, the PVC-based Aadhaar Card has a digitally signed Aadhaar secure QR code with photograph and demographic details with multiple security features. It can be ordered online through uidai.gov.in or resident.uidai.gov.in using Aadhaar number, Virtual ID or Enrolment ID and paying a nominal charge of Rs. 50/-. Aadhaar PVC Card is delivered to the resident’s address by speed post.
Q.2 Can I choose to have and use any form of Aadhaar?
Ans. Yes. The residents can choose to have one or more forms of Aadhaar. The residents may also choose to use any form of Aadhaar as per their convenience. All forms of Aadhaar are equally valid as a proof of identity without giving any preference to one form of Aadhaar over the others.
Q. 3 What is “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” service?
Ans. “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” is a new service launched by UIDAI which facilitates the Aadhaar holder to get their Aadhaar details printed on PVC card by paying nominal charges. Residents who do not have registered mobile number can also order using Non-Registered /Alternate Mobile Number.

Ans. This card contains security features like:

4. Ghost image
5. Issue Date & Print Date
6. Guilloche Pattern
7. Embossed Aadhaar Logo
Q.5 What are the charges to be paid for “Aadhaar PVC Card”?
Ans. Charges to be paid are 50/-(Inclusive of GST & speed post charges).
Q.6 How one can raise the request for “Aadhaar PVC Card”?
Ans. “Aadhaar PVC Card” request can be raised by visiting the UIDAI Official Website or Resident Portal (http://www.uidai.gov.in or https://resident.uidai.gov.in) using 12 digits Aadhaar Number (UID) or 16 digits Virtual Identification Number (VID) or 28 digits Enrollment ID. Request can be raised using registered or non-registered mobile number.
Registered Mobile Number, where OTP/TOTP will be received on Registered Mobile number.
Non-Registered /Alternate Mobile Number, where OTP will be received on Non-Registered/ Alternate Mobile number.
Q.7 How to raise request using Registered Mobile Number?
Ans. 1. Please Visit https://uidai.gov.in or https://resident.uidai.gov.in
2. Click on “Order Aadhaar Card” Service.
3. Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar Number (UID) or 16 digit Virtual Identification Number (VID) or 28 digits Enrollment ID.
4. Enter the security code
5. If you have TOTP, choose option “I have TOTP” by clicking in check box else Click on “Request OTP” button.
6. Enter OTP/TOTP received on registered mobile number.
7. Click on the check box against “Terms and Conditions”. (Note: Click on hyper link to see details).
8. Click on “Submit” Button to complete OTP/TOTP verification.
9. On next screen, preview of the Aadhaar details will appear for verification by resident before placing the order for reprint.
10. Click on “Make payment”. You will be re-directed to Payment Gateway page with payment options as Credit/Debit Card, Net banking and UPI.
11. After successful payment, receipt will get generated having digital signature which can be downloaded by resident in PDF format. Resident will also get the Service Request Number via SMS.
12. Resident can track the status of SRN till dispatch of Aadhaar Card on Check Aadhaar Card Status.
13. SMS containing AWB number will also be sent once dispatched from DoP. Resident can further track delivery status by visiting DoP website.
8. How to raise request using Non-Registered/Alternate Mobile Number?
Ans. 1. Please Visit https://uidai.gov.in or https://resident.uidai.gov.in
2. Click on “Order Aadhaar Card” Service.
3. Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar Number (UID) or 16 digit Virtual Identification Number (VID) or 28 digits Enrollment ID.
4. Enter the security code
5. Click on check box “If you do not have a registered mobile number, please check in the box”.
6. Please enter Non-Registered / Alternate Mobile Number.
7. Click on “Send OTP”
8. Click on the check box against “Terms and Conditions”. (Note: Click on hyper link to see details).
9. Click on “Submit” Button to complete OTP verification.
10. No preview of the Aadhaar details will be available.
11. Click on “Make payment”. You will be re-directed to Payment Gateway page with payment options as Credit/Debit Card, Net banking and UPI.

Q.9 Ans. Which modes are available to make the payment?
Ans. Presently, the payment can be made using Online Mode of Payment. Residents can use following payment methods while making payment:-

4. UPI
Q.10 What is SRN?
Ans. SRN is 28 digits Service Request Number which is generated after raising request for Aadhaar Card on our website. It will be generated every time whenever the request will be raised regardless whether payment is successful or not.
Q.11 What is AWB number?
Ans. Airway Bill Number is the tracking number that is generated by DoP i.e. India Speed Post for the assignment/product that they deliver.
Q.12 What if residents want to get the Aadhaar PVC Card printed with the details that they want?
Ans. If residents want some changes in the details of printed Aadhaar letter or PVC Card, then they first have to update their Aadhaar by visiting Permanent Enrollment Center or SSUP portal (depending on update) and then raise the request because this facility can be used to get the hard copy of Aadhaar PVC Card/Letter.
Q.13 How many days will it take to receive “Aadhaar PVC Card” after creating successful request?
Ans. After receiving order for Aadhaar PVC Card from the resident UIDAI handovers printed Aadhaar Card to DoP within 5 working days (excluding the date of request). Aadhaar PVC Card is delivered to the residents at their registerd address in adhaar database using SPEED POST Service of India Post in line with Department of Posts delivery norms. Q.14 How Aadhaar PVC Card is different from Aadhaar Letter?
Ans. Aadhaar letter is laminated paper based document issued to the residents after enrolment and update. Aadhaar Card is a durable and easy to carry PVC card with security features. All forms of Aadhaar (eAadhhar, mAadhaar, Aadhaar letter, Aadhaar card) are equally valid. The resident has the choice to use any of these forms of Aadhaar issued by UIDAI.
