In case the equilibrium price is not discovered in the pre-open session, wherein, there are only market orders, the market orders shall be matched at last traded price and all unmatched orders shall be shifted to the order book of the normal market at last traded price following time priority. Last traded price shall be the opening price.
SEBI has received proposal from the stock exchanges and market participants for introducing Smart Order Routing which allows the brokers trading engines to systematically choose the execution destination based on factors viz. price, costs, speed, likelihood of execution and settlement, size, nature or any other consideration relevant to the execution of the order.
Investors can buy and sell shares through mobile phones now. The Securities and Exchange Board of India has allowed registered brokers who provide internet-based trading to facilitate securities trading using wireless technology, including mobile phones and laptops with data cards.

Transactions in mutual fund schemes could soon become as easy as those in stocks. Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is planning to make listing of all schemes mandatory. These will include all debt, equity, open-ended and close-ended schemes.
SEBI has, on 19 July 2010, released the report of Takeover Regulations Advisory Committee (TRAC) constituted under the Chairmanship of Mr. C. Achuthan on the proposed changes to the existing SEBI (Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeovers) Regulations, 1997. TRAC has given their recommendations and also issued a draft of proposed takeover regulations which would replace the existing takeover regulations. The report is open for public comments upto 31 August 2010.
Any act, omission or concealment to be a fraud within the meaning of the Regulations need not be committed in a deceitful manner; intention to deceive is not an essential requirement of the definition of fraud as given in the Regulations; even making a false statement without believing it to be true is by itself an act of fraud.
Retail investors will now get to subscribe more in initial public offers (IPOs). The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has proposed to raise the investment limit for retail investors from the current Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. The move is seen as an intermediate step before increasing the limit to Rs5 lakh and is expected to help companies obtain more retail subscriptions in IPOs.
The cumulative gross exposure through equity, debt and derivative positions should not exceed 100% of the net assets of the scheme. Mutual Funds shall not write options or purchase instruments with embedded written options.The total exposure related to option premium paid must not exceed 20% of the net assets of the scheme.
