Imports are foreign goods and services that are produced in a foreign country and sold to domestic residents of a country. If a country Imports more than it Exports it runs a Trade Deficit. When a country has a trade deficit, it must borrow from other countries to pay for the extra imports. India is traditionally a Trade Deficit Country.
Reference is invited to Trade Notice No. 44/2019-20 dated 26.12.2019. In this regard it is informed that in the said Trade Notice due to typographical error in Para 2 it was mentioned ‘millers/ traders’. It is clarified that the same may be read as ‘millers/ refiners’.
Paragraph 2.79D of Handbook of Procedures of FTP 2015-20 has been amended to lay down the procedure for export of SCOMET item(s) imported for demo/display/exhibition/ tenders/RFP/RFQ/NIT purposes in the country. In addition, the undertaking by an applicant firm seeking authorisation for export of indigenous/imported SCOMET item(s) for demo/display/exhibition etc. abroad [Para 2.79D(A)] has also been modified including provision of bringing back item(s) within 90 days after the event.
