Invoking the extra-ordinary jurisdiction of this Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner herein calls in question the order Annexure P-1 dated 2-12-2014 whereby and whereunder, respondent No. 4 – Hon’ble Chancellor of Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur (for short ‘the HNLU’) in exercise of his power conferred under Section 8(2) of the Hidayatullah National University of Law, Chhattisgarh, Act, 2003 read with Statute 19 of the Statutes contained in the Schedule to the said Act and in view of the amendment to the Statute of the University published on 25-11-2014, extended the tenure of respondent No. 5 – Prof. (Dr.) Sukh Pal Singh as Vice Chancellor of the University for a further period of five years or until he attains the age of seventy years, whichever is earlier.

A proposal for comprehensive amendment to the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions (EPF & MP) Act, 1952 is under consideration of the Government which, inter alia, includes reducing threshold limit for coverage from 20 to 10 employees under the Act.
The contribution payable under Employees” State Insurance (ESI) Act, 1948 is not an interest-bearing deposit. The Central Board of Trustees (CBT), Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) in its 211th meeting held on 16.02.2016 has proposed an interim rate of interest at 8.80 per cent to be credited to the accounts of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) subscribers for the year 2015-16. Ministry of Finance has, however, ratified an interest rate of 8.70 per cent.
The Provident Fund (PF) subscribers whose details like AADHAR Number and Bank Account Number have been seeded in their Universal Account Number (UAN) and whose UAN have been activated may submit claim forms directly to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) without attestation of their employers.

(b) to (d): There is a wide regional disparity in minimum wages due to variations in socio-economic and agro-climatic conditions, income, prices of essential commodities, paying capacity, productivity and local conditions.
Ministry of Finance vide Notification No. G.S.R.322 (E) dated 18.03.2016 has notified accounts of Employees’ Provident Fund as one of the schemes identified for transfer of unclaimed amounts.However, the EPF funds, as per para 53 of the EPF Scheme, 1952, cannot be expended for any purpose other than payment to individual
