The Union Cabinet on 1st March 2018 approved the establishment of much awaited NATIONAL FINANCIAL REPORTING AUTHORITY. This created one post of Chairperson and three posts of Full Time Members against a provision of fifteen members in law and one Secretary for NFRA.
It is not uncommon these days to hear expressions of grave concern within our profession about losing the dignity of the profession and a general decline in intra profession courtesy. At the same time, leaders of our Government are criticizing our profession for inefficiency and not delivering the result at par with their expectations.
There are a number of issues directly linked to maligning the image of Chartered accountants which started from Satyam , Reddys, Lodhas and we are being found mediatory in almost all the cases of bribes caught red-handed by the enforcement agencies. However, an attempt is being made here through this article to look for the last six incidents maligning the profession drastically.
