Customs Valuation Rule 10A – Rejection of Declared Value

A new rule, Rule 10A has been added to the existing Customs Valuation Rules, 1988 to give effect to the decision taken by the Ministers of the Countries which the signatories to GATT, 1994, (copy enclosed). The rule 10A reads as follows

Section 61 of the Customs Act, 1962 lays down the period for which the imported goods can be warehoused. The first proviso to this Section provides that the period of warehousing prescribed, on sufficient cause being shown, can be extended for period not exceeding 6 months by Commissioner of Customs.
