Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has nominated ICAI for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan
Dear Members,
It gives me immense pleasure to inform that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has nominated ICAI for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan during his visit to Varanasi to mark Good Governance Day on 25th December 2014. We are extremely honoured to receive this nomination from the Hon’ble Prime Minister. It is indeed a matter of pride for us that for the first time any professional body has been nominated by the Prime Minister for Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the most ambitious mission by Government of India that envisages filth free India. The Abhiyaan not only aims to correct the nation’s reputation for poor hygiene and sanitation, but also create a positive economic impact.
Our institute has always proactively supported the government’s efforts in the best interest of the country. I strongly believe that our CA fraternity comprising of 235,000 members and 850,000 students can make a big difference in effective and efficient implementation of this initiatives. Given our track-record as a partner in nation building, we all should contribute our individual as well as collective might to make this initiative a success.
As a responsible and socially aware profession, we are attentive to the responsibilities bestowed on us with this nomination. In fact, since the announcement of the scheme on October 2, 2014 we have already initiated many steps towards this direction namely directing all our regional councils and branches to effectively associate in Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan; Guidelines to our offices to clean staircase, corridors, sale counter, library, toilets, parking lots, and roads adjoining the ICAI office area; Sensitizing officers and staff to put work station and desk area in order including proper handling of loose papers; and Display Sign Boards and display boards carrying the message of Swachh Bharat etc.
