Suppose a partnership firm makes turnover of Rs 25 lakhs. As per sec 44 AD presumptive rate of 8% net profit amounts to Rs. 2 lakhs. Upto last year out of Rs 2 lakhs there was provision for deducting partners salary, remuneration and interest in this amount upto a maximum of 90% as per sec44 AD(2).

Budget 2017 – It is proposed that the assessee who declares profits and gains in accordance with presumptive taxation regime provided under section 44ADA shall also be liable to pay advance tax in one instalment on or before the 15th of March.
It is proposed to amend the section 44AB to exclude the eligible person, who declares profits for the previous year in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 44AD and his total sales, total turnover or gross receipts, as the case may be, in business does not exceed two crore rupees in such previous year, from requirement of audit of books of accounts under section 44AB.
It is proposed to amend section 44AD of the Act to reduce the existing rate of deemed total income of eight per cent. to six per cent in respect of the amount of such total turnover or gross receipts received by an account payee cheque or account payee bank draft or use of electronic clearing system through a bank account during the previous year or before the due date specified in sub-section (1) of section 139 in respect of that previous year.
Govt is promoting small traders to do their trading through bank accounts due to cash shortage. Govt given option to these traders under section 44AD to pay 6% tax on total turnover made through bank accounts.
The change in the presumptive rate of 8% to 6% on digital transactions made by the govt. can be understood through the below examples
If a trader makes his transactions in cash on a turnover of Rs.Two Crore, then his income under the presumptive scheme will then be presumed to be Rs. 16 lakhs @ 8% of turnover.
