Market regulator the Securities and Exchanges Board of India (Sebi) today allowed exchanges to introduce currency options on US dollar pairing with rupee, a development that provides another alternative to corporates for hedging against currency fluctuations.
The wait is now over for the US investors who wants to bet on the Indian stock markets, with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange starting the trade in Nifty Futures from Monday. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) is introducing two new contracts — E-mini and E-micro S&P CNX Nifty (Nifty 50) Futures — designed to access the Indian market opportunities.
The issue regarding call auction and its use in various session, including pre-open session was deliberated in Secondary Market Advisory Committee (SMAC). Based on the recommendation of the committee and proposal received from the stock exchanges, it has been decided to introduce call auction mechanism in pre-open session.

The regulator had recently formed a committee comprising senior officials from SEBI, investor associations, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) to resolve complaints pending against companies suspended by the exchanges. Non-payment of listing fees is the most common reason for suspension of companies from the bourses.
The country’s two prime bourses Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange will carry out a special 90-minute trading session on Saturday to help NSE test an upgrade its trading system.The special live trading session on February 6, in cash and futures segments, would open at 11 am and close at 12:30 pm, NSE and BSE said in separate circulars.
