The due date for filing of return of income within the meaning of Explanation 2(c) to section 139(1) of the Income Tax Act, 1961. is 315t July 2014. The Income tax authorities are hereby directed that for the convenience of the taxpayers’, arrangements be made for accepting the returns of income during normal office hours on 26th July and 27th July 2014, being Saturday and Sunday respectively. This direction is issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes in exercise of powers conferred under section 119 of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
Notification No. 2/2014-Income Tax In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) read with clause (b) of the Explanation to Section 35AC of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), the Central Government, on the recommendations of the National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare, hereby notifies the institutions approved by the said National Committee, mentioned in column (2) of the Table below

Circular No. 12/2014-Income Tax Section 10AA of the Income-tax Act, 1961, inter-alia, provides for deduction in respect of the profits derived by a unit set up in SEZ from export of computer software or from providing any ITES services. The said deduction available to a new SEZ unit is subject to certain conditions including: i) it is not formed by the splitting up, or the reconstruction of a business already in existence; ii) it is not formed by the transfer to a new business, of machinery or plant previously used for any purpose.

For this purpose, tax effect means the difference between the tax on the total income assessed and the tax that would have been chargeable had such total income been reduced by the amount of income in respect of the issues against which appeal is intended to be filed (hereinafter referred to as disputed issues). However the tax will not include any interest thereon, except where chargeability of interest itself is in dispute. In case the chargeability of interest is the issue under dispute, the amount of interest shall be the tax effect. In cases where returned loss is reduced or assessed as income

The Department will send separate One Time Passwords (OTP) also referred as PIN on the mobile and email provided by the taxpayer. The OTPs have to be entered by the taxpayer after logging into their e-filing account to authenticate the same. The OTPs will remain valid for 24 hours within which the taxpayer has to complete the process. For ‘Foreign/ NRI’ taxpayers, the OTP validation of the email ID would be sufficient.
