As per procedure put in place a reasonable number of PAN allotment requests are being marked as probable duplicate by the system, during process of allotment of PAN, which has to be resolved by respective Regional Computer Centres (RCCs) and a decision is taken by matching details of already allotted PAN and new PAN request to either allot a new PAN or mark the request for allotment of PAN as duplicate request.
The account holders may be informed that, in case self-certifications are not provided till 30 April 2017, the accounts would be blocked, which would mean that the financial institution would prohibit the account holder from effecting any transaction with respect to such accounts.

CBDT has vide notification No. 21/2017 released ITR forms for Assessment Year 2017-18 / Financial Year 2016-17. The number of ITR Forms have been reduced from the existing nine to seven forms. The existing ITR Forms ITR-2, ITR-2A and ITR-3 have been rationalized and a single ITR-2 has been notified in place of these three forms. In order to curb the practice of declaring unaccounted income as exempt long term capital gain by entering into sham transactions, the Finance Act, 2017 amended the provisions of section 10 (38) of the Act to provide that exemption under this section for income arising on transfer of equity share acquired or on after 1st day of October, 2004 shall be available only if the acquisition of share is chargeable to STT.
