Candidates who have applied for May 2012 Chartered Accountants exams are requested to note that admit cards with photographs and signatures of the candidates will be hosted on http://www.icai.nic.in generally 21 days prior to the commencement of the examination. Candidates may print their admit cards from the website, which will be valid for admission to the examination.
What is this Unit scheme? A candidate who has passed one of the groups of a) Intermediate Examination under the syllabus as specified in paragraph 2A of Schedule B of Chartered Accountants Regulations 1988 ( i.e. Nov. 1994 or later) or b) Professional Education (Examination II) and desirous of pursuing the CA course shall necessarily be required to convert to Integrated Professional Competence Course(IPCC) stream of education, training and examination, (since exams under Intermediate and PE II courses have been discontinued) and appear in the IPCE Unit Scheme of Examination, in order to complete IPCE.

As per the Notification issued on 23rd February 2012 as required by section 30(3) of the Chartered Accountant Act 1949 it was decided that exemption from ‘Common Proficiency Test’ is given subject to certain condition… i) all graduate and post graduate with any of the three subject as mentioned in the notification having secured 55% of the total mark.

Empanelment of Statutory Auditors: We recently held an emergent meeting to deliberate upon the proposal of the RBI Working Group on Revision in the Norms for Empanelment of Statutory Auditors and other issues relating to appointment of Statutory Auditors in Public Sector Banks. This was followed with a discussion in the Council. Based on the deliberations, we have prepared a detailed representation and submitted it to the Reserve Bank of India. Subsequently, I also submitted a summarised version of the representation to Shri D. K. Mittal, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance.

The year 2012 will be an eventful year for Indian accountancy profession if both external and internal developments are any indication.
