1. The process of electronically filing Income tax returns through the internet is known as e-Filing.
2. e-Filing of Returns/Forms is mandatory for :
- Any assessee having total income of ₹ 5 Lakhs and above from AY 2013-14 and subsequent Assessment Years.
- Individual/ HUF, being resident, having assets located outside India from AY 2012-13 and subsequent Assessment Years.
- An assessee required to furnish a report of audit specified under sections 10(23C)(iv), 10(23C)(v),10(23C)(vi) ,10(23C)(via) , 10A, 12A(1)(b), 44AB, 80-IA, 80-IB, 80-IC, 80-ID, 80JJAA, 80LA, 92E or 115JB of the Act, shall furnish the said report of audit and the return of Income electronically from AY 2013-14 and subsequent Assessment Years.
- An assessee required to give a notice under Section 11(2)(a) to the Assessing Officer from AY 2014-15 and subsequent Assessment Years.
- All companies.
- Firm (to whom provisions of section 44AB is not applicable), AOP, BOI, Artificial Juridical Person , Co-operative Society and Local Authority required to file ITR 5 from AY 2014-15 and subsequent Assessment Years.
- An assessee required to funish return u/s 139 (4B) in ITR 7.
- A resident who has signing authority in any account located outside India.
- A person who claims relief under sections 90 or 90A or deduction under section 91.

Since which year e filing of income tax return is compulsory for company assessee?
If I file one of my assessee having income above 5 lac manualy for a.Y.12-13 and in march month ITO call me and say please file online as your assesse having income above 5 lac i file in march end online and after that with same income same self asst, tax ,tds , as original return now benglor CPC center demanded for interest what can i do. pl. suggest ,
whether apply for rectificateion u/s. 154 ?

It is not a good initiative. The filing should be made mandatory in e-filing across board and there should not be any exception.Because co-operative societies also comes under this addition. All co-operative societies bank accounts are in DCC Bank and this bank is doing work completely offline. so how we can provide MICR and IFSC ?

Now that the Revenue has gone ahead with national networking of IT records with an unprecedented God speed, to suit the ways of the modern world, is to be commended.But suggestion that it should be extended across the board to one and all , and in one go, seems to be lacking in conviction; in that, it overlooks the additional hassle and inconvenience, so also hardship, that would entail to small taxpayers cum senior citizens – create one more hurdle to them in timely compliance but with no external good quality assistance which is available only for a fee.
Yet another suggestion but intended for the common benefit of all,particularly the most salaried and like tax payers to the effect that there is no rhyme or reason in continuing with the requirement of physical filing of Form V (Ack)hence requires to be dispensed with has sadly failed to percolate through and be done. The attendant problems faced and pointed out through this website and elsewhere ought to be considered seriously and acted upon by the Revenue with no less alacrity/enthusiasm than that thus far shown in mandating e’filing.
