At this point of time, we would like to mention that the due date for “Companies and Assessees liable for audit U/s 44AB” is September 30, 2008. [Amended by Finance Act 2008]. So please make sure that you file the returns (if any) before the due date.
As of now, there is extension of due date announced only for state of J&K and Bihar by 30th September 2008, to 30th November 2008. More information is available at www.incometaxindia.gov.in.

With reference to Rule 12 of Income Tax, it is mandatory for a firm (who is required to furnish the return in Form ITR-5 and to whom provisions of section 44AB are applicable) or a company (who is required to furnish the return in Form ITR-6) should furnish the return electronically (without or with Digital Signature).
