The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Income Tax Officer posted at Yamunanagar (Haryana) and an Advocate of Ladwa, Distt. Kurukshetra (Haryana) in a bribery case.
The complainant had alleged in the complaint that an Advocate of Ladwa, Distt. Kurukshetra (Haryana) and an Income Tax Officer, Yamunanagar (Haryana) were demanding a bribe of Rs.2.50 lakhs for settlement of Income Tax matter of Agricultural land purchased by his wife. Accordingly, a case was registered U/s 8 of PC Act 1988 on the basis of the said complaint. CBI laid a trap and the Advocate was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe amount of Rs.Two lakhs. The Income Tax Officer was also arrested.
Both the arrested accused were produced before the Designated Court and were remanded to Judicial Custody.
Investigation is continuing.
