Today is the last date for Return Filing for the Assessee Including Individual, HUF, partnership Firm Etc whose Accounts are not required to be audited under the Income Tax Act or any other law and also for a working partner of a firm whose accounts are not required to be audited under the Income Tax Act or any other law.

This Year Department has made E-Filing Compulsory For All the Individual and HUF whose Total Income Exceeds 5 Lakh. Last Year This Limit was Rs. 10 Lakh.  This decrease in Limit resulted in more  Rush on Income tax E-filing website which slowed down the e-filing website and people found it difficult to upload the ITR. Even as per department estimate in Peak hours E-Filing rate was 85000/- returns per hour.

S Should be extended due to server delay and TRACES has a problem in downloading tds certificates for salaried emplyoees too.

  2. g satya gowri says:

Yes certainly cbdt should extend the due date.
we have a problem with traces for downloading the tds certificates for salaries employees

  3. Pranay J Luthia says:

I don’t see any requirement of extending the IT Return filing date, because in most of the cases Assessee submits the details at last hour which results in delay in filing IT Return, so it is better to put pressure on Assessee to submit the details well in Advance atleast 25 days before due date of Return filing. Our Govt. has already done online Return filing facility which is enough, now it is our time to file the Return well in time.

  4. RUCHIKA TENDOLKAR says:

It must necessarily be extended as it is taking 25-30 tries before any return is uploaded from our office. Either it does not open the website or after opening, it does not log-in or later it does not upload saying web-page not available. so there are hurdles in the web-site at each stage. We are practising CA’s and are responsible for filing returns of our clients. If due to reasons beyond our control we are unable to file, the client will be at a loss. These problems are being faced since last 6-7 days. Our internet service provider is Airtel. We do not know if these problems are due to our ISP or the website. HENCE THE DUE DATE SHOULD BE EXTENDED.

  5. Advocate K K Singla says:

Yes, the due date must be extended by at least 15 days. Not only e-filing other activities which are required on line have become difficult and there is many fold increase in multiplicity of work. Credit for TDS and payment of tax is not being given. The rectification is being rejected time and again. The greivances should be redressed on priority basis.

  6. Advicate Radheshyam says:

Why the last minute rush? The returns can be prepared and filed, uploaded a little earlier. No body prevents the assessee to file it even 10 days earlier. We should come out of the mindset of doing thanks only at the last moment.
The date be extended only in genuine exceptional circumstances.

  7. mujeeb siddiqui says:

it is 11:27 and efiling site is looking dead, it is impoosible to compelete the
task within deadline, so date shoule be definetily extend.

  8. RAJIV ZAVERI ADVOCATE says:

Sir Time should be extended. Vat returns in Mah had last date June 30 and e file requires lot of time in filling every thing Bank dont give acknowlwdgment immediately hence at least 15 days time should be extended. Also income tax sight does not open and it takes long time.Adv Rajiv Javeri Amravati Maharashtra

  9. CA. Sanjeev Jain says:

Income tax departments E Filing Server does not seem capable to handle the pressure of E Filing. It is becoming more and more difficult to access the server. Hence they have left you no option but to try and try again. Hence the date extension is warranted, particularly when the income tax department is not ready with the forms and filing procedure even after two months of start of financial year.

  10. CA. SUNIL K GOYAL says:

Yes, the server is not responding and we are waiting for hours to file a single return.

However, when it works, the returns are filed at a lightining speed.

In toto, they should give some relief.

  11. A.V.S.RAVI KUMAR,hYDYD says:

WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED f16 FROM TRACES TILL NOW.aND DOING NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS TO REGISTER THE PAN IT IS FAILING THE DUE DATE MUST BE EXTENDED.

  12. Adv Shivkumar Dhadd says:

For last three days the server of IT department is very slow, most of the time the server didn’t respond, I think this due to heavy traffic on the site, hence it is necessary to extend the due date.

  13. Raghunathan says:

For the last seven days, there was tremendous difficulty in e-filing returns. The uploading could be done only on few days during late night. Leading software sites like Winman put up a scroll saying that the problem is in the income-tax web site and not theirs. Yesterday and today, the server is busy all the time. When the Department knows that the number of e-filing assessees are going to be more, they should have suitably strengthened the income-tax server also.
If not for any other reason, for the sheer inability to access the income tax portal during the last week, the last date for filing return should be extended.

  14. BHAVIN says:

As of now at 11 am on 31st July 2013, Income tax efiling site is down then on what basis they expect the public at large to comply with the deadline.
They have to extend the deadline.

  15. JAIPAL NUNANI-ADVOCATE says:

Yes:It is the first year for the income above 5.00 lakh required to file return online and there is more technical issues are arise during the filing of return,so it is request to extend the due date of filing the returns by atleast one month.

  16. Balaram A S says:

Since, last few days, the IT Server is totally “Jammed” Understably. It has become a Herculean Task to file the IT Returns because the IT Server is not able to take the LOAD. Since yesterday morning not a single ITR could be Uploaded. Now, the CBDT has no choice but to extend the DATE of FILING and ensure such inconvenience is not repeated. Also, kindly give a serious thought about the COLOSAL loss of Man Power and Time. Simply because of the IT server not being upgraded to take the LOAD

  17. RAJESH JINDAL says:

Yes date may be extended by one month because:-
    1. Release of ITR forms in June
    2. CBDT DECLARED TO FILE IT RETURNS OF SALARIED PERSON BELOW 5 LAKH ON 23.07.2013 BEFORE IT WAS EXEMPTED AND HENCE THERE IS HEAVY LOAD
    3. COMPULSORY ONLINE FILLING OF IT RETURNS OF PERSONS HAVING INCOME MORE THAN 5 LAKHS

  18. Devashish says:

Yes, it is very true website is not working & activation link are not received in time so CBDT extend due date of filling returns

  19. v.mahadevan says:

I join all who are for extension of the last date fixed for filing the IT Return
more especially taking view the late issue of clarification. A taxpayer friendly gesture will be most welcome to one and all. The Department in turn will receive a warm applause and greetings from the honest taxpayers.
Let me pat the Department on its back for having granted extension of time to victims of Uttarakand.
    Sincerely
    mahadevan

  20. NIKHIL CHHABRA ADVOCATE says:

Yes Due date should be extend at least for a month as for the last four days site is completely down and not a single return I am able to file even 26AS cant be viewed. So date should be extended

  21. CA M Ishwara Bhat says:

I have been finding it difficult to access to the income tax website for filing returns since yesterday. Early this morning I could file about 10 returns. But now during office hours it is not accessible.

In a way it is good that assessees aree amking use of the technology. At the same time department also must see that it accomodates the last minute rush.

The department should not be at fault as it did in the case of TDS. In the case of TDS department has not made sure that ETDS returns are properly filed. But it has made arrangements to give credit only on the basis of 26AS. Lot of tome and energy is wasted in rectifying the orders, regularising the adjustment of refund towards nonexistent demands…etc.

If the department cannot accomodate the last minute rush, it is better if it extends the time limit…… CA Ishwara Bhat

  22. Jagadesh says:

CBDT should extend the due date, we are finding it very difficult to upload the return through e filing website and also the limit has been decreased to Rs.5 lakh

  23. CA Asha Sharma says:

Ya definitelt the deptt should extend the date of filing ITRs. Yesterday the server was not working at all specially the most needed login-page. It took me 12-15 attempts to register digital signature. In whole day ie on 30th July I was able to upload only 02 returns just because the server was not working.

i think deptt. should extend the due date.

  24. Moiz Bhabrawala says:

    Dear Sir,
Yes for sure the date for filing of Income Tax Returns must be extended as the ITR filing utility was also made available to us in mid of july for ITR 4 & ITR 5 how can one expect to file the returns within such less time and after such rush on the site. Please extend the same for one month

  25. Anruddh Goel says:

The infrastructural problems for use of technology to file the return electronically is very poor, particularly in upcountry towns. It is difficult to get connectivity to file the return. The volume of e filing has been increased by making it mandatory for the persons having income more than 5 lacs, and also the salaried employees whose incoe is below 5 lacs but exceeds 2 lacs have to file the return. E filing has been made available for ITR 7 also. Considering these additional filers, the extension of due date is required.

  26. Bhushan Choudhary says:

Last date to be extended up to 31 st Aug. It is duty of government to provide infrastructure to file the tax returns. TDS CPC not processing correction returns taking 2 months to correct the TDS returns. How can form No.16A to be issued untill correction returns not accepted by CPC

  27. Nilesh says:

IF site is slow then date must be extended !

Minimum 1 week & maximum 1 months as to wrap up the pending returns timely

as in India without deadlines nobody really acts sincerely.

    CMA Nilesh Kucheriya

  28. Hiral Gediya says:

Yes because of site problem we are not able to file the return timely so there are two way to solve the problem either site works properly or extend the time for filling of return

    Thank you

    Hiral K. Gediya

  29. CA Minal Pawar says:

I feel that the date for filing tax return should be extended on account of following two reasons. 1. The income limit for efiling of tax returns has been lowered resulting in more people accessing the site and leading to overload on tax site and consequent issues in up-laoding tax return. 2. Further, from this year, all assessees have to make payment of taxes before uploading their returns. However, internet banking is not used by all of them and hence online payment of taxes is not possible in all cases. Further, most banks take about 2/3 days to issue the challan and some bank branches still take about 10/15 days for issuing challan. In such cases, it may not be possible to mention details of challan in return and upload the it before 31st July 2013.

  30. SANJAY GUPTA (Accountant) says:

YES. DURING THE MONTH OF JULY WE HAD TO FACE TDSDEPOSIT/TDS RETURN/ VAT RETURN /EXCISE RETURN/SERVICE TAX RETURN & IN DELHI THE SYSTEM OF VAT RETURN WAS UPGRADED BY DEPTT.BUT NOT STILL WORKING PROPERLY . SO WE COULD NOT PREPARE INCOME TAX RETURNS . SO PLEASE ADVICE CBDT TO EXTEND THE DATE AT LEAST FOR ONE MONTH.

  31. alpa says:

deadline of july is not as great an issue as the september deadline.
who is the income tax dept. answerable to if it does not ensure provision of necessary infrastructure on time?

  32. Umesh says:

CBDT should extend the due date of filling of return because the site is not working/working in snail pace.

Before implementation of compulsory efilling for income slab of 5.00 lacs, CBDT should have considered its existing infrastructure whether it will support the peak hour rush or not.

  33. Pankaj Trivedi says:

    It should not be extended.
Firstly it is not much relevant for Salaried employees. (Major volumes) Whatever be the due date they will come on Last days only..
Secondly we & everyone should know that Last days will not be extended so we need to plan our workings.

    Pankaj Trivedi
